I wrote about my indecisiveness vis-a-vis purchasing an iPad 2 yesterday, and today I read an article that made me feel somewhat good for not owning a Tablet yet. According to the statistics, only 0.3% of the Earth’s inhabitants owned a tablet at the end of 2010. That means 99.7% (of us) don’t own one. I never would have guessed this number, especially with all the “noise” that was made by Google, Apple and others in the past year regarding this device.
I wonder if it is price that deterred people from buying a tablet. It is a great device, it solves lots of issues for us, and it is probably the coolest thing to have on this planet at the moment. Or maybe, just like with any new device (like it or not, this device is only 1 year old!), it needs time to mature and make its way up to our list of ‘gadgets every human being needs to have’. I think the latter is more likely. It will be very interesting to see at what rate this number grows in 2011.
